The Manchester Shambhala Meditation Group will be offering a six week class on the Indo-Tibetan teacher, Padmasambhava

. It will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the following Tuesday evenings in September and October, 2009, September 1, 8, 15, 29 and October 6, 13. Please note that September 22nd will be our Harvest of Peace – Celebration of Sangha Leadership.

Padmasambhava was one of the main conveyors of Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet during the eighth century. The modern Tibetan teacher, Chogyam Trungpa, seems to have taken his inspiration from Padmasambhava in bringing Vajrayana Buddhism to the UK and the United States. This course complements the recent course on Chogyam Trungpa’s famous Sadhana of Mahamudra, written down in a meditation cave where Padmasambhava had meditated on his way in or out of Tibet. The class will be based on two series of early seminars given by Chogyam Trungpa. Transcripts of these talks are published in Crazy Wisdom. The class will involve meditation instruction, talks by Jason Newman, and a Mahamudra Feast to celebrate this important Buddhist teacher.

If you would like to purchase a copy of Crazy Wisdom, they are available at the Northshire Bookstore. Please ask for the books on hold for MSMG (Manchester Shambhala Meditation Group). Preparatory reading for the first class: Chapters 1-3. The suggested donation is $10 per class, or $50 for the 6-week course, though we welcome any contribution. The Manchester Shambhala Meditation Group is located at 107B Bonnet Street, Manchester, VT. For more information, please contact Martha at 802-325-3146 or Bethany at 802-375-6353.
