Online Broadcast of SMC Sangha Retreat with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Gampo Acharya Pema Chodron

The Manchester Shambhala group will not be broadcasting these talks from our center, but we are making the info available to anyone who wishes to participate as an individual.

Shambhala Online will offer an online broadcast of the first two days of this summer’s Sangha Retreat with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Gampo Acharya Pema Chodron live from Shambhala Mountain Centre! The online portion of the sangha retreat will be offered on Saturday July 18 and Sunday July 19. This online broadcast will link our sangha throughout the world on the occasion of the first sangha retreat, and allow many more people to participate. Shambhala Online is offering the proceeds from this event as a fundraiser for our beautiful land centre–Shambhala Mountain Center. This program is open to all members and friends of Shambhala.

If you have never received a Shambhala Online broadcast before, and don’t know if this will be technically possible for you, please contact Heather Scott for support.

We have a limited number of possible computer connections, so we are opening registration to centres and groups first-until June 15. After that date, we will open registration to individuals throughout the mandala.

We expect that the event will begin with a short slide show of Shambhala Mountain Center, taking online participants around the land and eventually “walking” us into the shrine tent. We will participate in the first talks of the sangha retreat (likely one on Saturday and one on Sunday, to be held at 10:30 am Mountain time-12:30 pm Eastern, 6:30 pm Central Europe. Exact times to be confirmed soon with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche). Online participants may have the opportunity to ask questions using “chat” (typed in). These questions will then be read out loud to the Sakyong or Ani Pema. You will not need webcams or microphones for this program.

Because this is a fundraiser for Shambhala Mountain Centre, unlike other Shambhala Online events, the generosity policy does not apply to this program, and no streaming or downloadable recordings will be made available. Since we expect the program to fill completely, centres and groups are required to pay the full fee in advance of the program to “hold your seat”. The program fees are as follows $50 for individuals (registration available after June 15)

Shambhala Mountain Centre has recently upgraded their internet capabilities by installing “lightening proof” fiber optic cable to the main shrine tent that will allow the broadcasts to be clear and stable in all weather conditions. We needed to be sure that the proper technology was in place before we could publicize this event.

We hope that your centre or group will be able to participate-it promises to be an excellent program and a nice way for some members to be introduced to our Sakyong, our Gampo Acharya and Shambhala Mountain Centre-possibly for the first time.
