Profound TreasuryThe Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma: Part One- The Path of Individual Liberation -The Wisdom of the Hinayana

For 12 years, Trungpa Rinpoche taught what were known as Vajradhatu Seminaries, intensive 3 month group retreats of as many as 300 students. It was in these carefully constructed practice contexts that he presented a very complete survey of the Buddhist teachings. These programs were so powerful and transformative that he instructed his students to only share their notes with those who were graduates of previous seminaries and was very selective about what could be shared with the public at large.

Due to the hard work of Judith Lief, one of Rinpoche’s closest students who painstakingly and skillfully compiled many years of transcripts into three major volumes, the precious wisdom of these seminaries is now available for fortunate students like ourselves to study together. To do justice to their profundity, we are going to take our time and work through them at a relaxed pace, for as long as it takes. People who fully commit to this class, do the readings, and practice accordingly will receive a first class education in the Buddhist tradition and establish a very powerful basis for a lifetime of practice and study. Those who choose to come and go during this course will be welcomed, but it is in everyone’s best interest to approach this with a sincere appreciation of the material. We have before us a joyful and delightful opportunity to dive into the depths of the Dharma as presented by one of the truly greatest masters ever to leave Tibet. Please come along.

Roger Guest and Maggie Bernstein are both students of Chogyam Trungpa and we can look forward to personal accounts of the seminaries they have both experienced. For the next 4 weeks Roger and Maggie will continue with the Dharma Salon leading lively introductory discussion towards a new curriculum about the Buddhist path. This coming book course will resonate with new students of Buddhism as well as the most senior students. The class officially begins Tuesday Feb 11, 2014 and will continue for the rest of the new year. We are very fortunate to have two devoted teachers sharing their knowledge and experience.
