On Sunday morning, October 15th, Jason Newman will lead a guided vipashyana contemplation session. Vipashyana style meditation uses the peaceful-abiding quality of shamatha to explore different aspects of the meditator's normal mental events. The goal of the session is to give the meditator a sense of what a vipashayana retreat might entail — a taste of the experience without the 4 weeks of practice. This is slightly ambitious and experimental but should vivify our meditation practice in any case.
A light breakfast is offered at our center beginning at 8:30 am. The session will go from 9am to noon. All are invited, and no prior experience is necessary. Individual meditation instruction (beginning instruction and follow up interviews) will be offered at 9 am. This is a great opportunity to touch in and get a sense of where you might be on the meditation path.
If you plan to join us for light breakfast, please respond to Martha so we can plan food accordingly. If you wish to meet with a meditation instructor, please e-mail James Reilly before Friday evening.
