What is the nature of our minds and our relationship to the world? The Manchester Shambhala center will present a five-week class entitled “The Battle of Ego.†This course is an investigation of how we relate to the world and to ourselves. Perhaps there is a genuine, sane way to live. It is an exploration of a Buddhist approach to life.
“The Battle of Ego” is one of the primordial beginning courses on Buddhist meditation, based on Chogyam Trungpa's seminal introduction of an authentic, un-romanticized approach to Buddhism, “Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism.†Although based on an classic (1972) work of American Buddhism, the course is as fresh today as when it presented to Trungpa’s early students in his first urban meditation centers. This course will be taught by Jason Newman, in conjunction with members of the Manchester Shambhala Center.
The five-week course begins Tuesday, April 11 at 7 pm with a half hour of meditation. All are welcome, and instruction on Buddhist meditation is available prior to the class. For more information or to register, please contact Martha Schoenemann at 802 325-3146.
