The Manchester Shambhala Center presents a weekend program entitled “Maitri: Five Wisdom Energies,†on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. The program invites us to become curious about our personal energy patterns and how they affect every experience of our life. The use of colors, postures, meditation practice and exercises, evokes the five different styles of energy, or personality types, found in Buddhist teachings. These styles describe different ways we relate to ourselves and the world from our clarity, expansiveness, passion, action and sense of being. If we relax with the energy, our inherent wisdom guides us; if we contract against it, the energy is forced into distortion. Yet the wisdom energy is always available when we learn to pay attention and develop maitri, loving kindness, towards ourselves.
The class will be taught by Myra Woodruff, MA, MSW, a psychotherapist in private practice in Burlington Vermont who has been teaching Maitri practice for ten years.
This exploration occurs within the context of meditation practice. The program is open to the public, and no previous meditation experience is required — meditation instruction will be given on Saturday for newcomers. A $20 donation is welcome.
The Manchester Shambhala Center is located on Bonnet Street in Manchester, Vermont. Program hours are Saturday, April 30, 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm (registration at 12:30 pm), and Sunday, May 1, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
