Starting Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 7pm:
This five-week course explores the Sadhana of Mahamudra, a meditation text transcribed by Chogyam Trungpa in 1968 while residing in a sacred cave in Bhutan. The Sadhana of Mahamudra is a dense practice text, which envisions the interconnected nature of the mahamudra tradition of the Karma Kagyu lineage with the Nyingma lineage of Padmasambhava. This practice text is quite advanced, but experience shows that it is accessible to beginning meditators. Many Shambhala Centers practice the Sadhana of Mahamudra twice a month, and everyone is invited to participate in the practice. The teachings will be from the first four talks in the “Sadhana of Mahamudra Source Book
The fifth class, on Tuesday, February 5, will be a Sadhana of Mahamudra feast, a celebratory practice of the text with food, beverages, and entertainment offerings from the participants.
Jason Newman and Roger Guest will be co-teaching the course. All levels of practitioners are invited. Those who have not received basic meditation instruction should arrange for instruction before the first class, if at all possible. Please call one of our Shambhala Guides, Bethany at 375-6353 or Martha at 325-3146.
For information about obtaining the “Source Book” and the practice text, email martha-at-schoenemann.com
Suggested donation for five-week course: $25. However, we do not wish finances to be an obstacle to participation so please speak to a member of the leadership council about alternatives. Free to sustaining members.
