Qigong is a Chinese art of health that has been practiced for over two thousand years. A form of gentle, relaxing exercise, qigong strengthens joints, muscles, tendons, and bones, increases flexibility, nourishes the internal organs, stimulates the circulation of energy in our body, and enhances mental clarity.
Qigong not only maintains physical and mental well-being for healthy individuals but is an excellent way to gently introduce mobility and relaxation to persons who have physical challenges.
Qigong is also used as a tool to build the foundation for sitting meditation. The program will introduce participants to several basic practices of qigong that include self-massage and kneading, calisthenics, stretching, standing postures, and meditation.
Sophie Léger has been a certified meditation instructor in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition for over 15 years and served as Director of the Montreal Shambhala Meditation Centre from 1996 until 1999. She was also chair of the Karmê Chöling Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2007. Sophie is one of only four people authorized by Eva Wong to teach Qigong levels 1 & 2.
