Welcome!
Welcome to the Manchester Shambhala Meditation Group
This sangha was founded on the idea that enlightened society is possible. We have been practicing meditation and meeting together for the past twelve years. The members of our center have come together to express the dignity of their human existence through study and spiritual practice. This is the vision of Shambhala Buddhism.
At the heart of this wisdom tradition is the view that a life based on meditative understanding is accessible to everyone and can blossom into an enlightened society. The contemplative practices studied here bring into our ordinary lives a natural sense of goodness, fearlessness, and humor.
Our center is affiliated with the larger Shambhala Buddhist organization started by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and now directed by his son and spiritual heir, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. We have a strong and direct connection to Karme Choling Meditation Center in Barnet, Vermont.
At our center, meditation instructors are available for ongoing work with students who wish to pursue their meditation practice. The center offers regular ongoing courses to deepen students understanding of the Buddhist path. The Buddhist tradition provides a well defined, graduated method of developing skillful action and wisdom through meditation practice and study of the Dharma. The center has a regular Tuesday night meeting time from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. In addition, we offer special one and two day intensive meditation sessions, including a monthly nyinthun, as an opportunity for extended practice. We also bring in teachers from the Shambhala Buddhist tradition to present their wisdom at our center periodically.
